This mean shake any ideas of being creative out of that head of yours. This is not that job. What they are looking for here is the Machine. Your ability to become a part that fits in with that Machine. Your cooking performance has to be top notch, fast and long lasting.

They need you to hone your skills to a mind numbing factory like precision in all your aspects of your being. You need to react as you have been trained to cook the orders, not the way you want to, but THEIR way. That's why they gave you a recipe. Don't stir when your suppose to flip, pull from the front and not the back when rotating food per order, and never ever use butter when the recipe calls for olive oil. Focus not only on what you are doing, but also be aware of what everyone is doing around you. Now that you're focused they need you to concentrate on your orders. Not one order, not two orders, but more like between 6-12 at any given time and those are just the one in front of you, be sure you're still able to think about the orders that are coming in and the re-cook for table 9 that a sever dropped! Getting nervous, then stop reading and move on. Sound like a challenge or dare I say fun? Then ok, you have the guts to step into the kitchen and take orders and perform like a trained animal. This is not to be looked down upon. This is a very hard thing to do. Stand in one place doing the same thing over and over, again and again, and having them all taste and look consistent hour after hour.. That is no monkey job. That takes skill, practice, and an unwavering will to do whatever it takes to make it through dinner with little damage to your body and ego.
